Nope, I'm Norwegian. But me dad "drives" trains, and I used to work for the railroad here in Norway. I'm a HUGE geek when it comes to engines... Trains, cars, planes, boats... anything..

UP 4014, 3989 AND 844 all in the Stalls in Cheyenne Wyoming. But its not to Cheyenne yet....last I heard it was still crossing the parking lot at the Museum....

I hadn't heard about this before. When I was younger I would go to the train museum in Sacramento CA and just stare at the big boy they had there mesmerized. Thanks for sharing this!

My childhood memory is failing me. It wasn't a big boy. This is the train I was thinking of - still quite large.

And fund raising is under way (very successfully I might add) to put this engine back into steam - Norfolk & Western J Class #611, built May 19500 by the railroad itself at its outstanding shops in Roanoke, Virginia. I saw her run in the late 1980s and it's a breathtaking machine.
